MBC- enfin un nouveau site web :)

hello evryone

I just came across the MBC’s  new website..they have finally understood that it was time for change.. there is no more “bla bla bla’ on the history of TV , radio and so on..its much more appealing… its not an excellent Tv/radio station website..but some new and useful features like sports, news ( but according to their false notion of news or shud i say propaganda  :) ? saveur.. des recettes

some local production section.. radio section also is quite good nw..we can request songs to be played and listen to Kool FM , Taal FM live. they have also set some “sondage” and voting for best songs online.there’s also MBC live chat..but didnt check it!!

well just have a look at the new website friendz.. dnt think it will be much of use but still the change was much needed!its much more interactive n user freindly and its only the launching week i assume! some features r still being tested and i think it will be better with time..

enfin 1 bon changement :)

E-narchy in Mauritius

Internet is without doubt, the best example of a successful experiment of anarchy-based society. Anarchy in the anti-authoritarian society sense, that is based on voluntary association of free individuals in autonomous communities, operating on principles of mutual aid and self-governance.

I’d use this definition to describe the website Thisismauritius.

Disclaimer: The website is managed by Mauritians studying/working overseas, so at times the articles are either tainted with nostalgia or some snobbish macro-vision.

You can now post

I have finally been able to solve our ‘login-password’ problem for our collective blog.
I have just sent an e-mail to those whose e-mail address I have to explain how to sign in. Those who have not received it and wish to get the username and password can send me an e-mail.

You are all now given the status of author, which means that you can start posting entries again.
However, since you all have the same username and password, note that all your entries are under the same username. So, please again, sign your name + year of studies.

I would ask you also to be careful about what you do. Please do not touch the profile section and, more especially, do not change the password as your classmates will not be able to post if the password is changed.

Also, do not edit your friends’ posts. If you need to edit, make sure you edit only your own posts.

Finally, you may disseminate the username and password to all your classmates who may not have received this e-mail as well as to any former UoM Communication student you may know. But, please do not give to third parties.

Should you have any queries, just send me an e-mail at christina@noulakaz.net or chanssc@uom.ac.mu

Temporary problem with the blog

Hi all,

We have had some temporary problem with the blog as someone ‘innocently’ changed the password (I’m sure no offence was meant).

The problem has now been partially fixed.

But I have changed the initial password so that only I can post for the time being.

As I’m still learning my way around WordPress, I’ll figure out how to generate a new password for you to be able to post again direclty (except that I will now retain the priviledge of being an administrator and you will only be authorised authors in order to avoid such problems cropping up again ;-)

In the meantime, you may still add comments to existing posts and you may also send me your posts through e-mail and I will put them on the weblog.

See you soon,

Christina

Nouvelles technologies: La presse ecrite trop en retard!!

Hello evryone

its now that ive got the time to write something on this blog..good idea from Mrs Chan-Meetoo.thanx evryone for the links they r really useful.. have read Médias en crise.. ( thanx Jennifer) for those who dnt get the time to read it i will summarize :)   read also about participative journalism lately and wil share my views about it..

A cine-club?

fiilm-reel.jpg

If any of you are interested in setting up a cine-club, please let me know.

The project was in my mind since some time and it has cropped up again following a conversation with Ashvin Khemraz (lecturer for Principles of Graphic Design). Of course, we would need to have a critical mass in order to kickstart the project as well as people who are willing to participate actively…

So this is just a first ‘appel à manifestation d’intérêt’. If anyone is interested, just drop a line in the comments or send me an e-mail.

I would have liked the project to be owned and driven by you the students, not academics for a variety of reasons:

- You can set up a student association or club and be affiliated to the students’ union (you get funds from them to support the activities of the club;-)

- Without students, such a project would be useless. We need dynamic people to run that and to constitute a regular audience (I’m not saying academics aren’t dynamic but theoretically, students are supposed to be more dynamic… so prove it;-)
- You will benefit from the activities (get opportunities to watch and discuss worthwhile films)

Anyone interested?

PS: Of course, we’ll be there to help you in the shadows

PPS: It will take some time for the project to take shape… but we can start the process nonetheless

Peer to peer – A social networking for dollars

Peer to peer is also revolutionizing the banking sector. Zopa matches up borrowers and lenders in a peer-to-peer online lending service.
