Today’s presentation by Amadeus

Today, I was very disappointed to see that, despite a very encouraging response in class, very few students actually turned up for the presentation.
I am also particularly annoyed with Advertising students who did not come to my special revision session at 1pm when they had assured me they would be there. I hope you have valid excuses!

Where were you all? I know exams are coming soon, that you still have some assignments to submit but surely you could have spared an hour or two to listen to people from the advertising world who took the pains to come to the campus (5 of them including the directors)!

I’m not sure this encourages me to organise anything special apart from lectures. Or maybe I should have set an assignment linked to the presentation!? Why tell me you will definitely come and then change your mind so massively? I simply cannot understand!

For the handful who were there, we were given the opportunity to listen to a very interesting presentation with an enriching interaction about both the work of an advertising agency and the contest per se. Naime can you please upload the pics? And anyone volunteer to write a piece to recap the key points?

OK, that was my 10 minutes rant… Good luck for exams anyway!

  1. hi,

Thank You for organising this “seminar”…

it was a very good opportunity that the yr3-Advertising Students missed out to know more about the advertising world (not to say industry)…

I’ll try to write something since i took some notes and i also have the ads(toyota and SbM)…

  2. Hi

my apologies for not being present yesterday. As i’ll be on 18 days vacation leave as from Monday 14 May, i had loads of work and i had to do the hand over. I tried to come but due to the workload, it was not possible, hope you’ll understand.

You please dont be discouraged in organising things. The absences were due to revision and workload. Again we apologise for not participating.

  3. Dear Mrs Chan Meetoo

Sa meme qui appelle MORICIEN LA sa !?

A Mauritian family in France was puzzled when the coffin of their dead mother arrived from Mauritius. It was sent by one of the daughters.

The dead body was so tightly squeezed inside the coffin, that there was no space
left in it! When they opened the lid, they found a letter on top, which
    read as follows:

    >Dear brothers and sisters, I am sending our mother’s body to you, since it
was her wish that she should be cremated in France close to you. Sorry, I could not come along as all of my paid leaves are consumed. You will find inside the coffin, under Amma’s body,

12 cans of Kraft cheese,10 packets of chocolates, 10 packets of Bois Chéri tea, 25
dhall pouris and 8 packets of Twisties. Please divide these among all of you.

On Amma’s feet you will find a new pair of Bata shoes (size 10) for Gopala.
Also, there are 2 pairs of shoes for Retnon’s and Sarojini’s sons. Hope the sizes are correct.
    >Amma is wearing 6 fake Ralf Lauren Shirts. The large size is for Gopala
and the others are for my nephews.

    >Just distribute them among yourselves. The 2 new fake Armani Jeans that
Amma is wearing are for the boys. The Fake Swiss watch that Saroja
wanted is on Amma’s left wrist.

“Nianum Aunty, Amma is wearing the necklace, earings and ring that you asked for.”

    >Please take them. The 6 white cotton socks that Amma is wearing must
be divided among my teenager nephews.
Please distribute all these uniformly and if anything more required
    let me know, since our……………..
    >Appa is also not keeping well nowadays…

I know this blog is for sharing serious things but still we need to laugh!!!

  4. Sorry for not being present at this lecture though i promised i’d be. It’s just that i’d been informed later in the evening that a friend of mine died from a heart stroke.
Thursday i had a choice to make; either go the funeral or come to your lecture.
I chose to go the funeral cos he was only 32. Dying from heart attack at this age was just too shocking for me. It jyst reminded me that life nowadays could be so short. U can be healthy the day before and die the other day.
I am sincerely sorry Mrs Meetoo, u can trust my word, had there been no unexpected things, i would’ve definitely been there. Advertising has been my world for 10 years, it’s hectic, tiring, but oh so rewarding. I’m sure i missed some important things, so i appeal to those who went to share their thoughts.
And please Mrs Meetoo, do organise your lectures, we sure have a lot to gain from them.

  5. Hi ma’m…

Well, we (David & myself) didn’t promise to come. We know and as per feedbacks, it has been an interesting and enriching presentation. Well, we really regret having missed such an opportunity. And, both are us are VERY MUCH interested in advertising.. The problem infact comes from our respevtive work. He cannot take any leaves apart from uni release, as he’s got to replace his release hours. And on my side, i dont get release from school, i have to exhaust my local and sick leaves. It was impossible to take leave or permission on that day and at that particular time.. u c..

Well, we would like to know more about that presentation… Awaiting recaps and some more feedbacks about it.. Please share your experience(s) from that presentation..

Hope to get the opportunity to attend such a presentation in future and other events organised..

  6. @Naime

Patience??? Hmmm, i think u know the news process… and the post might be ‘stale’ before u finally decide to upload the snaps….
