We carry on with the introduction. Then, we discuss the following:
Targets and Images

5th September
We carry on with the lecture on the Official PRSA definition, Targets and Images (see notes above), and Key Concepts.
Then, we look at Organisational Settings.

12th September
We discuss Organisational Settings
Remember: we can have quizzes anytime as from now

19th September
No class due to Research and Activity Week

26th September
No class as I am in a workshop

3rd October
Publics and Models
We did an MCQ test.

10th October
We carry on with the class on Publics and Models.

17th October
We carry on with the class on Publics and Models and then discuss Planning PR

24th October
There will be no class. However, we will have a longer session next week to compensate for the missing session.

31st October
We finish the lecture on Planning PR. Then, we discuss Press Relations.

7th November
We carry on with Press Relations

14th November
We carry on with Press Relations. We will also discuss holiday assignment.

This was the last session for Semester 1. We meet again in Semester 2.

For the holiday break, there are two assignments to be completed:

  • Holiday assignment 1: Please post the team composition and the organisation chosen on the blog by the 15 December. Presentations to be done as from the second week of Semester 2.
  • Press release exercise: the completed assignment should be ready and submitted as from the first week of Semester 2.

23rd January 2014
Review of last lecture
I will collect the Press Release assignment.
We will also discuss the upcoming presentation. Please bring all your material so that I may see progress made so far in each team.

30th January
Presentations will start. There will be a draw to determine order of presentations. All teams need to be present. Please remember that all team members should speak. Total duration per team should not exceed 15 minutes. There will be collective marks for content and individual marks for oral performance.

6th February
We carry on with the presentations. Please note that we will proceed with a new draw to determine order of presentations.
There was no class due to the cyclone warning class 3

13th February
We carry on with the presentations. Please note that we will proceed with a new draw to determine order of presentations. Also, I will have to attend a meeting at noon so we will end earlier exceptionally.

20th February
We carry on with the presentations for the 4 remaining teams, so we may have a longer session exceptionally. Please note that we will proceed with a new draw to determine order of presentations.

27th February
Public holiday

6th March
I will give back the press release and we will review the exercise together

13th March
We work on the second press release then we discuss Corporate Social Responsibility.

20th March
We carry on with the lecture on CSR. Then, class exercise and discussion on: Case Study on CSR from the Times 100 website.

27th March
We correct the exercise on CSR from last week. Then, class on Crisis Communication

3rd April
Class on crisis communication. All teams to be finalised for the last assignment (mock press conference in a crisis situation).

10th April
We finish discussing the notes on crisis communication. All teams have to be finalised by this week. Please input your team composition and company chosen in the comments section before coming to class.

17th April
No class. However all teams are expected to work on their mock press conference scheduled for 24th April. Please remember that each team gets 10 minutes for presentation + 5-10 minutes for Q&A. All students are expected to arrive at 10.00 sharp (room to be communicated) and to stay throughout the session. All students are expected to participate as presenters but also as journalists for the Q&A (marks will be given).
There will be a draw at the beginning of the session to determine order of presentation.

24th April
Last session for the year. We proceed with the final assignment: the mock press conference (crisis communication).

Please do not forget to fill in the online feedback form for the module!

Update (24th April): As agreed, presentations are postponed to Monday 28th April. No class today.

Update (26th April): Presentations scheduled for Monday 28th April at 8.30 in Room 1.7

Since four groups still need to present, we will have an additional session on Monday 5th May as from 9 a.m. Room to be announced. I will also use the session to give back all assignments and marks for Continuous Assessment, to brief you and answer any questions you may have for final exams. All students are expected to be present.

Update (2nd May): Session on Monday in Mediacom Studio (2nd floor of FOA building) as from 9.15 a.m.

    Regarding the fact that we have chosen Phoenix Beverages first, it is inadmissible that another team does the presentation on the same company. Even us have done lots of research and already fixed a meeting with the company. Having two presentations on the same company is not a fair thing, please sort out the matter ASAP.
